The poets have been mysteriously silent on the subject of cheese.

Life peg: Emersonmade

“But life for me, well, it has been about moments enhanced by clothing, music, and furniture. Great art of just about any kind. Crocodile stilettos. The Firebird ballet. I don’t seem to care for the names of who signed what treaty but I do want the specifics of exactly what they were wearing and why. And if it looks good it goes straight into Relevant. Now in fairness you could say there is an art to what they were doing—making treaties. Of course. But it’s just not the sort of art I want to focus on. Not right now. Pencil it in for later. And then. Erase.

I want to give you some beautiful trousers tailored to fit just right with gorgeous leather soled heels. Let’s get into black glitter on the eyelids that sparkle like coal in the dark restaurant for the night. To lay out on the grass and listen to Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring and feel it transform you into smoke and into rain and then back into fire. To be frank, it’s the only way I’ve ever liked life. Parties. Parties of two. A tiny crystal champagne flute sipped outside in the snow. Tight blue jeans in heels outside with croquet. Love letters on napkins. Why not. You know, my mother passed away when I was younger and my feelings about life have only intensified as we go along. We have this one life so let’s do it in moments. Stretch them out via gorgeousness all around. wear gorgeousness as much as possible. Wear real things. Natural things on the body, on the skin. It’s why I design and why I painted.”
